The Perfect Addition to your pet’s Dog Crate

Perfect addition to your dog’s crate is a plush bed. Since your dog spends a great deal of time sleeping in their crate, the purchase of a nice bed should not be taken lightly. Leaving them on the hard cold surface of their crate is hard on their joints and cause problems for them as they get older. It’s also important the crate be a positive part of your dog’s life.

Just a few things you need to do before…

First step, be sure to have the proper measurements of their crate. You’ll want their bed to fit correctly. Your dogs legs and paws should not touch the frame area unless by his or her choice.

Aside from your dog’s comfort you may want to think about the ease you will experience if you purchased a crate bed that is made of machine washable and dryable fabric. This can also help if your dog’s area tends to be a bit smelly and your pooch sheds. It sure beats hand washing or vacuuming your dog’s crate. Check the material and durability of the bed. Puppies chew and you do not want them to be able to destroy it easily or get a hold of toxic materials.

What else to consider when buying a Dog Crate Bed

Another thing to consider in your decision is the type of material for your dog bed. While the fabric beds have the largest selection of colors and design they are not a wise choice if your dog spends a great deal of time outside. He may come in with muddy paws and go jump in his bed and guess what? You have a big ‘ole mess. Most of the bed selections on this site are indestructible but always monitor a brand new puppy to be sure they are safe from swallowing something dangerous that causes them to choke. If your pet needs more warmth you may consider a bed made from fleece material. While leather is nice it’s a bit expensive and since your doggies will surely try to arrange their bed into the special spot, they might scratch it up fairly quickly. I have not done this for my doggie but you can bet if I saw her shivering I would purchase a heated dog bed. The things we do for our little furry friends.  Click here to see more.
